This app doesnt even open. Complete rip off
I thought this app would help with phone conversations. That is not what it is for, apparently. From the support team: "The Hearing impaired version allows people who are hearing impaired to press record when someone is talking to them. The software will automatically transcribe the speech and type the words which were just said and display them on the screen. Then the hearing impaired person can type back a response and it will speak aloud anything they type back."
I paid $50 for this app. I requested my money back and they said no. The speech recognition is ok at best and cuts you off after about 10 seconds of talking. I leave it set for English to English for my father who has lost his hearing. To use this for the hearing impaired is a waste of time. When it does translate it takes about 20-30 seconds for a simple sentence. Way to long to wait for a translation to text on the iPad2. Waste of Money... Dont Buy. Dont Buy
This latest update has a setting called disable end of speech detection. When enables This allows voice recognition detection for up to 55 seconds. It is best to use SpeehTrans on a WiFi connection or a fast 3G connection. This is truly an amazing product and allows closed caption television to let people who are hearing impaired have subtitles in real life. Try it now, according to apples return policy if you dont like it you can uninstall it within the first 15 minutes and Apple will refund you the money. But you will love it and it will be the best money you ever spend:-)
Very nice implementation. I use it with my mother in the hospital who is now almost completely deaf. Your application allows me to communicate with her easily. I especially like that its easy to edit the speech to text translation to quickly correct errors. Thank You an A+ rating from me!
